(1) No person who—
(a) makes a protected disclosure of information; or
(b) refers a protected disclosure of information to an appropriate authorityfor investigation—
is liable to any civil or criminal proceeding or to a disciplinary proceeding by reason of having made or referred that disclosure of information.
(2) Subsection (1) applies despite any prohibition of or restriction on the disclosure of information under any enactment, rule of law, contract, oath, or practice.
This section gives legal protection to a person who makes a protected disclosure of information or refers such disclosure to an appropriate organisation, from being subjected to any civil or criminal proceedings or to any disciplinary action because of the action taken by such person with regards to the protected disclosure.
